Numbers – Chapter 36

  • But if they are married to any of the sons of the other tribes of the people of Israel, then their inheritance will be taken from the inheritance of our fathers and added to the inheritance of the tribe into which they marry. So it will be taken away from the lot of our inheritance. Numbers 36:3 – Today’s chapter addresses an issue that arose with the solution to a previous issue within the people of Israel. If there was a man, who died with only daughters, his land would would go to the daughters as their inheritance. Yet if those daughters ever married, that land had the risk of being given over to a different tribe due to the marriage. It was a reasonable question to be brought to Moses, but it also is a classic example for us of the issues in life we have to deal with because of sin. Keep in mind if sin had never entered into the picture, there would be no death and no losing what the Lord gives us. We’d forever be in God’s perfect will and blessing. Yet that’s not our story, and issues like the one in our chapter are in our life too. Know just as God spoke into them, He speaks into our issues as well. He’ll give direction if we seek it and He’ll reveal to us the most holy way to handle all things. Will His led always be easy to follow? No, but that doesn’t lessen the direction’s holiness. Praise the Lord that we have a God who is patient enough to still speak into our story to help us through messes that are only in our life because sin is in our life. • The inheritance of the people of Israel shall not be transferred from one tribe to another, for every one of the people of Israel shall hold on to the inheritance of the tribe of his fathers. Numbers 36:7 – God’s plan does not include you losing your inheritance. We see here in this chapter how God was not going to let these ladies lose the blessing God had stored up for them. When then it comes to our inheritance from God, it’s handled the same. Our promised blessing of eternal life when we place our faith in Him is sure and no one is going to steal that away from us. It is secure and safe in Him. The question then is since it’s secure how are you going to use it? Your eternal life with God started the moment you placed your faith in Him, so what are you doing with that life? Are you helping other people step into the inheritance God has waiting for them? Know your inheritance is safe with God, go now and use it. I love you, but Jesus loves you more – Mac – Daily DEVO 1452
  • Numbers 36 – Pastor Mac Daily DEVO These are the commandments and the rules that the Lord commanded through Moses to the people of Israel in the plains of Moab by the Jordan at Jericho. Numbers 36:13 – Today we are wrapping up the book of Numbers and this final verse truly sets the tone of what this book was about. The Lord spoke, He gave His commandments to His people, then the people had a choice to make. Do the reject the command? Do they follow yet grumble the whole way? Do they submit to the leadership of the Lord and follow His commands faithfully? We see all these options play out in the book and each path’s consequences as well. Rejection of the commands equaled waiting and wondering and never being able to step into God’s promises. Grumbling resulted in a heart posture that was not pleasing to the Lord and His wrath was quickly shown. Yet, those who followed the lead of the Lord, what happen with them? They received food when they needed food, water when they needed water, victory when they needed victory, freedom when they needed freedom, and they got to step in and flourished in their promised land. The book of Numbers reveals to us so clearly how important it is for us to take seriously and follow the commands the Lord has established for us. If we want to step into the promise we see told to us in scripture, we then are called to live a life of obedience to the words of command in scripture. Choose today a life of following the words of the Lord for you will be choosing a life of promise. I love you, but Jesus loves you more – Mac – Daily DEVO 2317
