- Let the Lord, the God of the spirits of all flesh, appoint a man over the congregation who shall go out before them and come in before them, who shall lead them out and bring them in, that the congregation of the Lord may not be as sheep that have no shepherd. Numbers 27:16-17 – Even though Moses was not allowed to step into the promise land, he cared deeply that the people still had the support and leadership they would need so they could step into the promise land. Our hearts should grow to desire the the provision of others even if we ourselves don’t get the same. I’m sure there was a desire in Moses to actually move into the promise land with the others, yet that didn’t hold him back from wanting the best for the others. How can you then today be praying for the best in other’s life even if you yourself are still stuck in your own wilderness? Trust God has a plan for your story even now, but while we wait to step into whatever that is be praying and hoping for the best for others. - Numbers 27 – Pastor Mac Daily DEVO And you shall speak to the people of Israel, saying, ‘If a man dies and has no son, then you shall transfer his inheritance to his daughter. 9 And if he has no daughter, then you shall give his inheritance to his brothers. 10 And if he has no brothers, then you shall give his inheritance to his father’s brothers. 11 And if his father has no brothers, then you shall give his inheritance to the nearest kinsman of his clan, and he shall possess it. And it shall be for the people of Israel a statute and rule, as the Lord commanded Moses.’ Numbers 27:8-11 – This whole command given by the Lord started because a family within Israel had no sons, but only daughters, to receive the Lord’s inheritance. Moses though wasn’t sure how to handle such a situation so he brought it before the Lord. God directed Moses to give the inheritance to the daughters. And if in other case where there wasn’t daughters, to brothers. And no brothers, to another source, and if that source wasn’t there, here’s another source you can give it to. God’s desire was for them to receive His promise. Clearly with this command God wasn’t promising an inheritance, but just looking for anyway to get out of giving it to them. He was making it impossible for them NOT to receive His blessing. Know God’s heart is for us to possess the good things He provides, not to strip those things away from us. He’s not talking up His blessings in scripture, getting us excited, getting us to sacrifice for Him, and then pulling a fast one on us and leaving us with nothing. That’s not our good, good Father. He gives, and provides, and He blesses. Yes, God will take away, but even in the taking He continues to provide in other ways. Our God is a God who longs for us to be in His promises.
