- Whoever is not with me is against me, and whoever does not gather with me scatters. Matthew 12:30 – When we follow Jesus we step into His mission of gathering people close to Him. Sometimes it’s intentionally pursuing that, other times people draw close to Jesus just because they see our daily life. This is the outcome of a life that follows and loves Jesus. But look at what this verse says. Those that aren’t about gathering actually scatter instead. So rather than helping people draw close to Jesus they push them away. So where are you with this? Does the way you talk about people gather or scatter? Does the way you live your life outside of church gather or scatter? We could go on with examples, but you get the point. Seek to be about gathering with all you do. I guarantee you don’t want to end your life knowing you pushed people away from a life with Jesus because of your selfishness, carelessness, and apathy. - But the Pharisees went out and conspired against him, how to destroy him. Matthew 12:14 – This chapter talks about a lot of big, theological ideas, yet this simple verse I believe shows the heart of the issue behind it all. The Pharisees saw Jesus do a mighty work right in front of them, yet chose to reject the work of God and sought ways to stop more work from taking place. Often this chapter brings up conversation over the unforgivable sin. What is it, have I done it, and should I be worried. Truly, if you are worried about it, you most likely haven’t committed it. See the only sin that’s unforgivable is going through your entire life never repenting to find the forgiveness and life Jesus gives. If you choose to see the works of God laid out in scripture, hear the message of Jesus spoken to you, yet still choose to reject all this and never turn to follow Him then your future is eternal separation from God. This is why it’s unforgivable, because you haven’t sought forgiveness. God has already revealed His goodness and power, no more evidence is needed to prove that. He has made Himself known to you and made His offer of life known to you. If today, after all that, you still haven’t chosen to follow Jesus, today I am reminding you of the end result of that choice. If you are still alive you have time to choose Jesus, but the moment your life is over so is your chance to choose. Choose Jesus today. I love you, but Jesus loves you more – Mac – Daily DEVO 1962
