Luke – Chapter 21

  • And he said, “See that you are not led astray. For many will come in my name, saying, ‘I am he!’ and, ‘The time is at hand!’ Do not go after them. And when you hear of wars and tumults, do not be terrified, for these things must first take place, but the end will not be at once. Luke 21:8-9 – Ooo, I love what I got to read today because it hits home with so many questions you keep asking me about. You know all those verses you keep pulling out about rumors of wars, the sun and stars doing weird things, and the floods and all pointing to the end times? Yeah this passage is right in the middle of that. And it says with all of it don’t be terrified, you don’t have to freak out over all of it. What it does say in a few verses later is that as all this unfolds, this is your time to bear witness, to share the love of Jesus with others. So it’s choice making time. Will you stay terrified or listen to Jesus, trust what He says, and take whatever comes as your opportunity to share about His love? Just know, I love your questions, let just make sure when we get the answer we choose to follow it. Have a great day guys, praying for you. I love you, but Jesus loves you more – Mac
  • This will be your opportunity to bear witness. Luke 21:13 – This will be our chance to stand up and share the good news of Jesus huh? Then the verses before this must have said things like “When everybody likes you then….” or “When you feel totally comfortable then…”  If you read the verses before v.13 you know though that’s not at all what it said. It said things like when people persecute you and throw you in prison then…this will will be your opportunity to share the good news. Make sure you don’t let the pushback you get from people push you away from sharing the good news. Jesus warns us that pushback will happen yet also assured us that He will take care of us in all ways through it all. Trust Him and don’t back down when you’ve been given and opportunity to share even if the opportunity is different than you expected.  I love you, but Jesus loves you more – Mac – Daily DEVO 626
  • This will be your opportunity to bear witness. Luke 21:13 – This is will be their chance to share what they have seen, heard, and experienced of Jesus with others. Now without having the other verses here with us it’s hard to know what this “witnessing opportunity” is going to be. Maybe God will just bring flocks of unbelievers to our doorstep and they will quietly listen to the full gospel as we speak it to them and they will all turn to follow Jesus! God for sure can do that and I would love every witnessing opportunity to be that peaceful. The opportunity that is being talked about by Jesus though isn’t one as peaceful. Jesus shares with His followers how persecution is going to come their way. They are going to be handed over to prison and kings, even by their own loved ones. They are going to find themselves on trial for Jesus’ sake. This then is the setting Jesus says is their opportunity to witness, to share the good news of the gospel. Sometimes our opportunities to share the Gospel will be in settings of peace, yet other times we may find ourselves in settings of discomfort and even fear. What we though are being taught by Jesus is each can be opportunities to share His message of salvation in. Share the gospel when life is easy and share the gospel when life is hard. Maybe the ears that need to hear the gospel are at your doorstep and maybe they are in a prison cell, either way our calling is to share the Gospel with them. Don’t let discomfort dissuade you from sharing with others the beauty of the Gospel. I love you, but Jesus loves you more – Mac – Daily DEVO 2338
