- They said to you, “In the last time there will be scoffers, following their own ungodly passions.” It is these who cause divisions, worldly people, devoid of the Spirit. Jude 1:18-19 – We must be aware that there will be people in our families and church families that because of their selfish pursuits will be the source of our division. We also must be willing to ask the question is that me? Our common enemy views it as a massive success if he can create division. He’ll attack anyone mercilessly to find his victory. When we begin to let our selfish, ungodly desires led us, we’ll be walking into his trap and creating the very division God is warning us about here. Today, please ask yourself if you’ve been following any ungodly desires and look at the relationships you have to see if the division there could be a result of following those desires. What a perfect time of the year to let your Godly desires lead you and to seek restoration where division has torn down. I love you, but Jesus loves you more – Mac – Daily DEVO 756
- Beloved, although I was very eager to write to you about our common salvation, I found it necessary to write appealing to you to contend for the faith that was once for all delivered to the saints. Jude 1:3 – Jude, brother to Jesus and James, is writing a letter to likely a primarily Jewish Christian audience. We see in our verse that Jude had a desire to speak about one thing, but saw the need instead to speak directly to a clear and present danger with the church. False teachings were making their way into the beliefs of those in the church, seeking to tear down what God was building up. Jude’s command? Content, fight, and stand up for the faith. Don’t let these false teachers teach. Don’t let the lies seeking to penetrate the church penetrate the church. Don’t let the enemy find an ounce of victory. While this command was for the church in Jude’s day, it’s just as vital in the church of today. Contend for the faith. When the enemy seeks to deceive young believes, cut him off. When lies seek to shape the church, proclaim the truth louder. Pray for the church and be available to be use by God however He calls to fight the good fight. For the truth of scripture and the holiness of God is worth fighting for. People being able to hear the truth of the Gospel is worth fighting for. Will you stand up when the pressure is present? Will you fight when the enemy comes swinging? Let’s us be found as followers of Christ willing to content for the faith we have in Him. I love you, but Jesus loves you more – Mac – Daily DEVO 2784
