- And the manna ceased the day after they ate of the produce of the land. And there was no longer manna for the people of Israel, but they ate of the fruit of the land of Canaan that year. Joshua 5:12 – Some might say that God was cruel in stopping the manna. Wasn’t that the source of food that kept the Israelites going for their trek in the wilderness? Why would God suddenly just stop the provision? Did He not care about them anymore? What we see if we read the passage correctly is that yes, God stopped the provision of manna, but also started the provision of food in the promised land. God never stopped providing, He just changed the way His provision came. This is something God will do in your story as well. He’ll put a stop to a provision in your life yet open the doors for another means of provision. The best thing you can do is not get mad at God for closing off the last provision. Even if right now you don’t see that new means of provision yet, know God will never leave you without. Trust Him still, keep moving forward in where He’s leading you, and watch as the new means of provision unfolds in front of you. That’s walking by faith. I love you, but Jesus loves you more – Mac
- Joshua 5 Daily DEVO When Joshua was by Jericho, he lifted up his eyes and looked, and behold, a man was standing before him with his drawn sword in his hand. And Joshua went to him and said to him, “Are you for us, or for our adversaries?” And he said, “No; but I am the commander of the army of the Lord. Now I have come.” Joshua 5:13-14a – God is for our good and loves us. God though loves the ones we call our enemies and is seeking them to know His goodness as well. We must remember God’s ultimate goal is not to accomplish our plans. He has a plan that He is accomplishing and He is inviting us to step into His plan and do our part. His plan is sharing His love and offer of life to the world. That offer is to us and even to those we call our enemies. Remember then that God isn’t about your agenda, but He is about you. He loves you and is inviting you into what’s He’s doing. Just realize what He is doing might end up being the exact opposite of what your agenda is saying to do. - Joshua 5 – Pastor Mac Daily DEVO And the manna ceased the day after they ate of the produce of the land. And there was no longer manna for the people of Israel, but they ate of the fruit of the land of Canaan that year. Joshua 5:12 – The manna from heaven stopped being provided for the people to eat. The food God had provided for them for forty years in the wilderness suddenly just stopped. If read by itself, that would look like a cruel thing for the Lord to do, the very thing He continued to provide for them, He stopped giving. Why? Because they finally were able to eat of the food of the promise land. God had stopped providing manna, but He didn’t stop providing. Is this where you are at today? Where God has been blessing you for a long time with something and now that something is no longer being provided. Maybe it was a steady income or love from a relationship or even an able body. Wonderful blessings to be provided with, and something you had provided to you for a long time, but now that provision isn’t being given. While your “manna” may not be given anymore, that doesn’t mean God has stopped providing for you. He is still aware of your daily needs and He is aware of you. What He provides now may not look like the manna you’re used to, but if we are faithfully following His lead we can have confidence that the new provision being offered is one of promise. That manna may no longer be in your hands, but God isn’t going to leave His follower empty-handed. I love you, but Jesus loves you more – Mac – Daily DEVO 2464
