- Your wives, your little ones, and your livestock shall remain in the land that Moses gave you beyond the Jordan, but all the men of valor among you shall pass over armed before your brothers and shall help them, until the Lord gives rest to your brothers as he has to you, and they also take possession of the land that the Lord your God is giving them. Then you shall return to the land of your possession and shall possess it, the land that Moses the servant of the Lord gave you beyond the Jordan toward the sunrise. Joshua 1:14-15 – God is a giver of blessings, yet sometimes He’ll ask us to set our blessings aside for a moment to help someone else reach their own blessings. Is God being hateful towards you if He asked you to do this? I hope you don’t see it that way. God just loves that “someone else” just like He loves you and knows He can use you in the process of reaching them with His blessing. For that to happen though, we may have to leave the comfort of our own blessing. We see at that moment which we care about more…our comfort or helping others. Don’t allow selfishness to take over your heart. While the comfort of your blessing now is amazing, helping others experience the blessings of God is a blessing in itself that you’d never taste
- Joshua 1 Daily DEVO Your wives, your little ones, and your livestock shall remain in the land that Moses gave you beyond the Jordan, but all the men of valor among you shall pass over armed before your brothers and shall help them, until the Lord gives rest to your brothers as he has to you, and they also take possession of the land that the Lord your God is giving them. Then you shall return to the land of your possession and shall possess it, the land that Moses the servant of the Lord gave you beyond the Jordan toward the sunrise. Joshua 1:14-15 – We who have already possessed the gift of life that God has offered to us need to take a moment to listen to what is happening here. Part of the people of Israel had already claimed their land, but Joshua tells them that they need to step up and help their brothers claim their own land before they can settle down and enjoy their land. We need to be in the business of helping other people claim the life God is offering them rather than just settling down. There are future brother and sisters in Christ all around you, step up and begin helping them take hold of what God is offering to them. I love you, but Jesus loves you more – Mac – Daily DEVO 1165
- Joshua 1 – Pastor Mac Daily DEVO Be strong and courageous, for you shall cause this people to inherit the land that I swore to their fathers to give them. 7 Only be strong and very courageous, being careful to do according to all the law that Moses my servant commanded you. Do not turn from it to the right hand or to the left, that you may have good success wherever you go. Joshua 1:6-7 – “Be strong and courageous.” That phrase was spoken to Joshua by Moses, now it’s spoken to Joshua multiple times by the Lord, and even at the end of our chapter some of the people of Israel say it to Joshua. I believe this was a message God wanted Joshua to hear. What’s something that God is repeating in your story? Do you feel the Lord consistently telling you to let something go? Is there a continued burden on your heart to step up into an area of ministry or service? Has the Lord been making known to you a way you need to start living? As with Joshua, when God repeats something, there is a purpose and we better take note. For Joshua it was to lead with strength, boldness, and courage despite the challenges. If in your story God has been repeating a message, be willing to listen and follow His lead. Leading a rebellious people into enemy territory wasn’t an easy calling, nor may be what God is calling you to do. Yet, if we claim to be followers of God, let’s follow God. I love you, but Jesus loves you more – Mac – Daily DEVO 2460
