Isaiah – Chapter 46

  • Listen to me, you stubborn of heart, you who are far from righteousness: I bring near my righteousness; it is not far off, and my salvation will not delay; I will put salvation in Zion, for Israel my glory. Isaiah 46:12-13 – The phrase that stood out to me from these two verses was “I bring near my righteousness.” God is speaking to the stubborn-hearted people who are far from righteousness, far from where they need to be with Him. He says to those people, I’ll bring my righteousness and holiness to you. I’m not going to make you struggle to find it and have to search for endless days. I’ll bring it so close to you that it will be impossible for you, even with your stubbornness, to miss. That’s what He did with Jesus for us, He brought His righteousness near to us so we all could clearly see His love for us. He’s already brought His righteousness near for us and salvation is here for us. Are we though opening our eyes to it? Are we still sitting in our stubbornness refusing to acknowledge we need His help to make it through life? Let’s try to see what God has brought near to us. • …even to your old age I am he, and to gray hairs I will carry you. I have made, and I will bear; I will carry and will save. Isaiah 46:4 – Before and after this verse, the Lord speaks of the idols made by men. How they are made with gold and worshipped but have to be carried by men and beast. The picture is that man is having to bring forth and carry his idols. Compare this though to the Lord and He reminds us that He is the one who created us, not the other way around. It is also Him that carries and saves us, not us carrying and saving Him. The questions then we must answer is do we want a god that we have to create and support or do we desire a God that created us and carries us? Do we want a god that we may be able to see with our eyes, but is unable to speak, hear, move, or act on our behalf, or to we want a God that is able see our pain, hear our cry, and powerfully save us? These questions are in front of us today. The Creator God, our creator and sustainer, is right in front of us to choose to follow, or we can choose some other thing to give our all to. Let’s make sure we choose the Lord to give our life to for we need a God that can carry us and that we don’t need to carry instead. I love you, but Jesus loves you more – Mac – Daily DEVO 2713
