- You keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on you, because he trusts in you. Trust in the Lord forever, for the Lord God is an everlasting rock. Isaiah 26:3-4 – Kept in perfect peace. That sounds pretty awesome doesn’t it right about now? Be sure though to know this passage is offering not just a fact that perfect peace is a thing but that’s it’s available to us. When we settle our mind on God and dwell there instead of dwelling on all the other craziness we could be dwelling on, we can find that peace we need. Because Jesus is our peace. I know right now it’s far too easy to let everything else but God have the focus of our mind, yet right now more than ever we need to seek to keep our mind on Him instead. We need this peace and we need to know where to direct others who need it too. Take this time where some of the normal distractions aren’t around to seek to have your mind staying on Him. - Trust in the Lord forever, for the Lord God is an everlasting rock. Isaiah 26:4 – Tomorrow morning I’ll be getting the blessing of preaching on the story of Simon the magician in Acts 8. In the beginning of the passage we are told how the people who witnessed Simon’s acts not only were amazed, but consider he was the power of God…Acts 8:10 – They all paid attention to him, from the least to the greatest, saying, “This man is the power of God that is called Great.” Note they didn’t think he did things BY the power of God, but said that Simon IS the power of God. In our Isaiah passage we learn that it is the Lord God who is power. In the original language it ought to be read that God is the everlasting strength. The rock. The power. No other thing on earth is the power and strength of our God outside of Himself. It is him alone that can keep you into perfect peace. It is Him alone that can lay flat the enemies of this world. It is Him alone that can bring blessing to the righteous while bringing judgment on the sinful. Our world does a great job of lifting high many other sources of strength you could place your hope and trust in. All though will fail and all will crumble, especially when our God who is the everlasting strength, rock, and power steps onto the scene. Choose today who you will keep your mind stayed on.
