- This shall be for the consecrated priests, the sons of Zadok, who kept my charge, who did not go astray when the people of Israel went astray, as the Levites did. Ezekiel 48:11 – We learn here we have a choice whether or not to turn away or stay on the path of following God. Even when the crowds of people turn, and even when those we thought would never turn actually turn, you can make the choice to stay heading on the right path. What we see from this passage is God sees that faithfulness and blesses it. Choose then, since you have this choice, to stay following after God even when those all around you choose another path. Trust that what God has in store for you is better than what any other path can offer. I love you, but Jesus loves you more – Mac – Daily DEVO 1112
- The circumference of the city shall be 18,000 cubits. And the name of the city from that time on shall be, The Lord Is There. Ezekiel 48:35 – Ezekiel closes out the chapter and the entire book with the name of the city that is being spoken about and outlined in our passages. “The Lord Is There.” As we studied the book of Ezekiel together we were able to gain a glimpse into the lives of the people of Israel. We saw how they rebelled against the Lord, worshipped idols in place of the Lord, and saw all this as something good to be celebrated. God then scattered His people to open their eyes to their wrong. Now in our final chapters, we see God rebuilding the temple and allotting land for His people. He is bringing them home and making a means for them to find forgiveness, life, and salvation through Him. Then He closes out the promises with the best promise of all, that He will be there with them in this glorious city. He will be present and He will be known by them. Believers today can rest in knowing that this promise is for us too. That one day we will be with the Lord in Heaven and that one day He will make all things news on Earth. He will restore and He will save. Yes, the season we are in now may seem overwhelming and the opposite of the images we see of life and fruit from our passages. Have faith that our God is a God who is able to keep His promises and He will do all He says He will do. I love you, but Jesus loves you more – Mac – Daily DEVO 2389
