Ezekiel – Chapter 40

  • And the man said to me, “Son of man, look with your eyes, and hear with your ears, and set your heart upon all that I shall show you, for you were brought here in order that I might show it to you. Declare all that you see to the house of Israel.” Ezekiel 40:4 – Here God is revealing to Ezekiel visions of the new temple and is giving the command to then declare all that he sees to the people. God is asking of us the same. See God is revealing Himself to us more and more everyday. As we pursue Him in scripture, as we serve Him, as we devote more of our lives to Him, we begin to learn more of who He is and how good He is. What are we then to do with all that knowledge? Share it so others can see what you’ve seen! As Ezekiel was commanded so are we. Pursue God and never stop sharing with others what He reveals about Himself to you. • …and the chamber that faces north is for the priests who have charge of the altar. These are the sons of Zadok, who alone among the sons of Levi may come near to the Lord to minister to him. Ezekiel 40:46 – Ezekiel is being shown a vision of the new temple and is able to see all its dimensions and measurements. Closer to the end of the chapter we see the measurements and directions given for the chambers for the priests. We learn that at this time the sons of Zadok were the only ones allowed to come near the Lord to minister to Him at the altar. No common priest could, no common Jewish man could, especially no gentile could come to the altar. Thankfully this is not our story anymore because of Jesus. The veil has been torn and the way to the altar of the Lord has been made available to all. Know today you don’t need to be a “son of Zadok” to approach the Lord. You don’t have to be a pastor, or come from the right family, or have a clean record to come before Jesus. Any and all who call upon the name of the Lord can be saved. Any and all may enter into His house, enjoy His blessing, and be a part of the family of God. If then today you have been under the belief that your story somehow disqualifies you from being close to Jesus, see the truth of scripture. Jesus Himself has drawn close to you and is opening His arms of love to you. Turn to the one who has come close to you. I love you, but Jesus loves you more – Mac – Daily DEVO 2381
