Ezekiel – Chapter 39

  • And my holy name I will make known in the midst of my people Israel, and I will not let my holy name be profaned anymore. And the nations shall know that I am the Lord, the Holy One in Israel. Ezekiel 39:7 – What we are seeing here, and in many of these past chapters, is just how deeply God cares about how His name is used. He wants it to be know and revered as holy not only amongst His people but all people. He wants His people regarding it as holy in front of the people of the world. That was true then and it’s true today. Let’s care deeply as to how God’s name is being used in our life. Is it represented well? Are we treating it as holy? Or are we misusing it in ways it never should be used? Let’s be willing to check the ways we are using God’s name in our story. I love you, but Jesus loves you more – Mac – Daily DEVO 1103
  • And I will not hide my face anymore from them, when I pour out my Spirit upon the house of Israel, declares the Lord God. Ezekiel 39:29 – This morning I’m actually going to be preaching on when Peter, during his Pentecost sermon, looked back at Joel’s prophecy of this very thing taking place. When the Spirit of the Lord would be poured out on His people. While we’ve seen the pouring out of the Spirit, we are still looking forward to the fullness of these prophecies being fulfilled when Jesus returns. What it does remind us though is that where we are at today is a place God has mapped out long before we came into the picture. We’re seeing God outline things back when Ezekiel was written, a little after 600 B.C., that unfolded at Pentecost and even are still in the works of being brought out today a couple thousand of years later. The grandness of scale that God works on is beyond our understanding. Find peace though knowing that this grandness isn’t beyond God’s understand. He is in control and He is about bringing His name glory. While we may not understand everything happening, and may not ever on this side of Heaven, we can know that if our lives are about bringing God glory, then we are walking the right path.
