Ezekiel – Chapter 3

  • For you are not sent to a people of foreign speech and a hard language, but to the house of Israel— not to many peoples of foreign speech and a hard language, whose words you cannot understand. Surely, if I sent you to such, they would listen to you. Ezekiel 3:5-6 – God is calling every believer to the mission of carrying His Word to those who don’t know it or don’t know Him. What we see though here in Ezekiel is that we aren’t always called to far away places that are foreign to us. Many times it’s the people we know, are comfortable around, and have existed with for years that God is calling us to share with. Your story may be a calling to international missions, but more than likely your mission is those already in your social bubble. Pray today to see who is already in your bubble that God is leading you to share His love with. I love you, but Jesus loves you more – Mac – Daily DEVO 1067
  • “Son of man, I have made you a watchman for the house of Israel. Whenever you hear a word from my mouth, you shall give them warning from me. 18 If I say to the wicked, ‘You shall surely die,’ and you give him no warning, nor speak to warn the wicked from his wicked way, in order to save his life, that wicked person shall die for his iniquity, but his blood I will require at your hand.” Ezekiel 3:17-18 – Ezekiel now has taken in the word of the Lord, and while as sweet as honey to him for he is a faithful follower of the Lord, the message will be bitter and harsh for those who are rejecting the Lord. Ezekiel finds himself after this whole encounter with the Lord overwhelmed by it all, and after seven days of silence from Ezekiel, God speaks the passage we see above. Ezekiel had been called to a mission and he was to get after it. Lives were on the line and he would be held accountable for not sharing like he was called by God to. What is so heavy for me this morning is how relatable this call Ezekiel was being given is to the call we’ve been given to share the Gospel. Regardless of people’s acceptance/rejection of the message, we are to share it. We may find ourselves overwhelmed by the task, but we must step up and begin the mission. There are lives on the line and if Jesus were to ask you why you didn’t share His love with those that needed it, would you be ready to answer Him? I know the topic of sharing the message of salvation has been the topic of many of our devotions lately, but what we’re seeing is that scripture is repeatedly giving us this direction to share God’s word with others. Let’s find ourselves faithful then to this repeated and prime command of scripture. I love you, but Jesus loves you more – Mac – Daily DEVO 2344
