- Thus says the Lord God: Because Moab and Seir said, ‘Behold, the house of Judah is like all the other nations,’ Ezekiel 25:8 – In Ezekiel, and throughout the Old Testament, we see God acknowledging the sins of Israel and Judah. Here though we see Him acknowledge the sins of the other nations, the ones that influenced and fought Israel and Judah. Learn from this that God isn’t blinded to one person’s sinfulness because He is focused on someone else’s sin. He sees it all and judges all. We aren’t going to get away with anything, everything needs to be forgiven and handed over to Him. So what is a sin you’ve been hoping just slides under God’s radar hoping He doesn’t see? Know He sees it fully. Handle it then as such. I love you, but Jesus loves you more – Mac – Daily DEVO 1089
- For thus says the Lord God: Because you have clapped your hands and stamped your feet and rejoiced with all the malice within your soul against the land of Israel, 7 therefore, behold, I have stretched out my hand against you, and will hand you over as plunder to the nations. And I will cut you off from the peoples and will make you perish out of the countries; I will destroy you. Then you will know that I am the Lord. Ezekiel 25:6-7 – In today’s chapter we see God beginning to turn His wrath on the nations around Israel. We learn that these nations saw Israel’s sin and trouble, they were witnesses to the turmoil that Israel was facing, yet instead of helping Israel, they saw this as an opportunity to take advantage of Israel. Instead of helping Israel, they enlarged the attack on Israel. We see clearly then God’s reaction to such a choice…that you don’t mess with His people. Let’s seek to remember that truth when it comes to the turmoil we see today in our life. We may walk through some serious troubles and we may be expecting others to help us in those times. We may find out those “others” won’t step up like we need, and in fact, they may cause us more hurt like we see in our passage. While that is a space no one wants to be in, know God’s sees this and God sees you. He will take care of His followers even when others won’t. Trust that the Lord will always provide, and even trust the Lord with the people that refused to help you when you reached out for help. You don’t need to dwell on anger towards them or seek out revenge, the Lord will handle it. Remember we have a good God, trust in that goodness.
