- And when I passed by you and saw you wallowing in your blood, I said to you in your blood, ‘Live!’ I said to you in your blood, ‘Live!’ Ezekiel 16:6 – This chapter is an amazing picture of our life with God and what can be our choice in life if we’re not careful. God steps in and gives life to this abandoned baby. He clothes her, takes care of her, and blesses her. She though takes all that blessing and gives herself to something else. God has blessed us beyond our dreams, don’t give then what God has created in us to anything other than Him. He alone deserves our life and worship. All others are worthless idols that pretend to be what got us out of the mud, but it was God who spoke life into us. Be sure that life He gave you is given back to Him. - I will establish my covenant with you, and you shall know that I am the Lord, that you may remember and be confounded, and never open your mouth again because of your shame, when I atone for you for all that you have done, declares the Lord God. Ezekiel 16:62-63 – This chapter gives us a mental image of how God saw Israel’s sin. God relates
Israel to a young woman that was abandoned. He finds her, takes care of her, blesses her, and bestows upon her every blessing one could ask for. Her response? She used her blessings for sinfulness and gave herself to other lovers. While God was going to allow her to feel the consequences of such choices, He was going to make right her wrongs. While of course this was meant for the people of Israel in Ezekiel’s day, it’s also an illustration of God’s people throughout all time. Blessed by God yet uses such blessings for sinfulness and gives themselves away to other lovers. What we see in Jesus is this truth of atonement displayed. We were abandoned, then brought near. We were loved and then we rejected God’s loved. And even after we gave ourselves over to so many other things, God made things right through Jesus so we can have a chance at life with Him again. We will never deserve a God like our God, thankfully our relationship with God isn’t based on whether we deserve it our not, but all based on His never ending love for us. Know with God, you will never find yourself out of His love for you. I love you, but Jesus loves you more – Mac – Daily DEVO 2357
