Daniel – Chapter 2

  • But as for me, this mystery has been revealed to me, not because of any wisdom that I have more than all the living, but in order that the interpretation may be made known to the king, and that you may know the thoughts of your mind. Daniel 2:30 – This past Wednesday I shared with our church youth group that when we see the miracles in the Bible done through people that it wasn’t the people’s power that made it all happen. It was God working through them that made the miraculous take place. Here Daniel agrees with that and points the king to where the power was truly coming from. It wasn’t Daniel, it wasn’t Daniel’s power, it was Daniel choosing to be an available tool for God to use as He needed. This is what we see in each of these stories from scripture, there was a person who was available to God. God is still wanting to move mightily today like we see play out in scripture. Does He know you’re available to be used? Have you made yourself a useful tool? See you may be available like that one knife you have that never really cuts well that you always pass by when choosing a knife. It’s always there, but it’s not ready to do what needs to be done. So let God know you’re available to be used by Him and seek to rid yourself of anything that would make yourself less useful to Him. Let’s together see what great things God can do through us. • Then Daniel went to his house and made the matter known to Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah, his companions, 18 and told them to seek mercy from the God of heaven concerning this mystery, so that Daniel and his companions might not be destroyed with the rest of the wise men of Babylon. Daniel 2:17-18 – Let’s set the context here…A emperor has given the command to kill all the wise men in his empire because they can’t tell and explain to him a dream. Since you’re a wise man, the guards are at your door ready to execute you, but you request time to seek the Lord in this matter. You need to know someone else’s dream and know the meaning of it, and if you don’t, your life, the life of your friends, and many others will be ended. Lots of pressure. Daniel though made two wise choices when the pressure was on that we too can make. Turn to God and seek God with others. Daniel knew what he needed could be only found in the Lord, so he went to the Lord. Daniel also knew that God had blessed him with other followers of God alongside him, so rather than seeking the Lord alone, he sought the Lord with others. While the pressure for you may not be like Daniel’s, we are being taught how to handle whatever sort of pressure comes our way today. First, acknowledge what you need comes from God, so first look to Him for what only He can give. Second, acknowledge that God’s design is for you to handle life and the pursuit of Him with other followers of God. Any way you look at this, God’s design was never for you to navigate life and His calling alone. Look to Him, walk with others, and fulfill what He is calling you to do.
