- But this I confess to you, that according to the Way, which they call a sect, I worship the God of our fathers, believing everything laid down by the Law and written in the Prophets… Acts 24:14 – When the pressure is on, will we still claim to be a real follower of Jesus. For Paul we see him confronted with a powerful ruler and in his presence he openly shares his faith in God. What about you? When that group at school who everyone idolizes is deciding if to let you in asks if you still do that church thing what will you say? When the company you work for is pushing in a direction that isn’t God honoring what will you do? It’s easy to open up about our faith in Jesus at a church small group or church camp, but how will you respond when the situation isn’t one that is supportive of following Jesus. Just remember a true follower of Jesus always follows Jesus, not just when following fits the situation. I love you, but Jesus loves you more – Mac – Daily DEVO 653
- After some days Felix came with his wife Drusilla, who was Jewish, and he sent for Paul and heard him speak about faith in Christ Jesus. Acts 24:24 – None of this is fair of what Paul is having to go through. Being falsely accused, beaten, imprisoned, and tossed from one leader to the next to be tried. Yet, in the midst of all this unfairness, Paul is getting an opportunity to share the Gospel in fullness that most likely no one else had ever gotten before. What looks to be about a two-year span, Paul was brought often to Felix the leader and his wife to speak about faith in Jesus. Yes, so much unfairness came Paul’s way, but the result was someone hearing the gospel that needed to hear the gospel…and that made the unfairness worth it. That though is going to take a heart change from us if we want to see the unfairness that comes our way in life like this. It also is going to take us looking deeply at the life of our Savior Jesus. For Jesus sure didn’t get treated fairly, but He endured because it meant life for us. Know in life things won’t always be fair, and God will even allow such unfair things to take place in our life. Our posture then is to see how can I glorify God still in this and who can I share the gospel with in this? I love you, but Jesus loves you more – Mac – Daily DEVO 2550
