- Then all the city was stirred up, and the people ran together. They seized Paul and dragged him out of the temple, and at once the gates were shut. Acts 21:30 – We are supposed to live such a life that attracts people to a life of their own with Jesus. How attractive are those actions of the Jews we read about it our passage? While you might not be seizing people like this, understand the way you talk and act toward others should attract, not repel, people to Jesus. Let’s your speech be encouraging and your actions kind. Let your life be noticeably different in a good way so those who don’t yet know Christ will want to change that lack of knowledge. How then does your current lifestyle need to change today to attract more people to a life with Jesus? I love you, but Jesus loves you more – Mac – Daily DEVO 650
- Then Paul answered, “What are you doing, weeping and breaking my heart? For I am ready not only to be imprisoned but even to die in Jerusalem for the name of the Lord Jesus.” Acts 21:13 – Paul was making his way to Jerusalem to continue the teaching and preaching of the Gospel message there. While on the way, a message from the Lord was given to Paul that he would be bound and deeply persecuted if he went to Jerusalem. After hearing this message, his companions strongly urged him to cancel his trip due to the certain persecution, but instead of allowing the threat of struggle stop him, Paul replied with the verse above. How often though do we allow far less serious of reasons halt us from doing what God called us to do? For no one right now is threatening your life if you go to church or if you talk about Jesus out in the open. While certainly there are places in our world that this happens, more than likely for you no one is going to bind you with chains or beat you or seek to execute you on Sunday if you were to worship Jesus. If then we are blessed with the freedom to worship Jesus without fear of such things, let us worship Jesus zealously with an unashamed fervor. What our world needs to sees is followers of Jesus unashamed to worship Jesus in front of them. Whether under threat or within freedom, let us worship Jesus in such a way the lost world around us can’t comprehend. I love you, but Jesus loves you more – Mac – Daily DEVO 2547
