- But I do not account my life of any value nor as precious to myself, if only I may finish my course and the ministry that I received from the Lord Jesus, to testify to the gospel of the grace of God. Acts 20:24 – Paul came to the understanding that his life was meant for something much bigger than just himself and his personal desires. As Christians, we too should see that our life is meant for so much more than our small desires and interests. Our days shouldn’t be filled with the pursuit of achieving our goals but accomplishing the mission that God has laid out in front of us. Today, let your day be focused on the mission God has given you to love Him and love people rather than the personal agendas we have. You have a bigger purpose today than you realize, let’s step into it. I love you, but Jesus loves you more – Mac – Daily DEVO 649
- Pay careful attention to yourselves and to all the flock, in which the Holy Spirit has made you overseers, to care for the church of God, which he obtained with his own blood. 29 I know that after my departure fierce wolves will come in among you, not sparing the flock; 30 and from among your own selves will arise men speaking twisted things, to draw away the disciples after them. Acts 20:28-30 – It doesn’t take long for the truth to be twisted. Paul is speaking to those who he had poured the truths of God and the message of the Christ deeply into. He tells them that he most likely will never see them again, so hold fast to the words he had spoken. Hold fast because soon would come the “wolves,” those seeking to twist the truth of what was taught about God and the Christ. Seeking to pull the believers in Jesus away from a belief in Jesus by their lies. We too need to be aware of the “wolves” in our story. Let us pay careful attention to our brother and sisters to make sure they are not walking away from the truth of scripture. Let’s also pay careful attention to the truth of scripture for ourselves so we know what is true and what is a twisted truth. While I wish the reality for us was that no devil would come against us to lead us astray, but that’s not the world we live in. Keep a close, loving eye then on your fellow follower of Christ and be willing to draw daily into the study of God’s word. I love you, but Jesus loves you more – Mac – Daily DEVO 2546
