- But when the Jews saw the crowds, they were filled with jealousy and began to contradict what was spoken by Paul, reviling him. Acts 13:45 – Have you ever gotten jealous of someone’s blessing that God gave them for their faithfulness? Here we have the Jews seeing the massive crowds coming to hear Paul speak and they become jealous and began speaking badly about Paul. Have you ever looked at the crowds of a big church and spoken badly about their ministry? Have you you ever seen a pastor living and serving faithfully but all you speak on is their wardrobe choices? Have you seen a fellow church member who’s been faithful and received a blessing from God and instead of joining in the gratitude you are filled with envy? Our hearts when we see God blessing and moving should be to praise Him and be an encouragement to those being faithful. Check your heart, jealously is going to slow down the blessings in your life from coming and only going to hurt the church. Be willing to thank God for the blessings, especially when they didn’t come to you. I love you, but Jesus loves you more – Mac – Daily DEVO 642
- Let it be known to you therefore, brothers, that through this man forgiveness of sins is proclaimed to you, and by him everyone who believes is freed from everything from which you could not be freed by the law of Moses. Acts 13:38-39 – Imagine someone chained to a wall their whole life. They had tried everything they could to unlock the chains, but nothing ever worked. Now you share with them that there is a key that can finally unlock their chains. While nothing else could to do this for them, the key will, and they can freely have it right now. The message Paul was proclaiming here was there is now a key, and His name is Jesus. By Him they could be freed from the chains of sin like they had tried for so long to do. Now for us today we too may have tried so many things to free us from sin. So many things to free us from the shame, the hurt, and the guilt, but nothing in this world could do it. Jesus though is the key. He can forever set you free from the sin in your story and give life everlasting to you. Give your life to Jesus and find the freedom only He can give. I love you, but Jesus loves you more – Mac – Daily DEVO 2539
