Ecclesiastes 8 – Pastor Mac Daily DEVO

Because the sentence against an evil deed is not executed speedily, the heart of the children of man is fully set to do evil. Ecclesiastes 8:11 –  Solomon noticed a seriously concerning issue within this life. Those who do wicked things often don’t see the consequences for their action immediately. Maybe it’s something seemingly simple like a small lie, yet this plays itself out with much larger crimes as well. The wicked do there deed and it seems like they get away with it for there is no immediate consequence. This then causes them to continue to do wrong, settling their heart to only do evil as our verse says, for there is no consequence to their actions. Certainly if all there was to this life was this life, and in that life wickedness was left without consequences, then Solomon’s stance that life is meaningless makes a lot of sense. Yet as we’ve stated all along in our study of Ecclesiastes, this life isn’t all there is. There is eternity after this life and what we do in this life matters even in eternity. A life of wickedness may seem to get away with their actions in this life, but in the life to come their future is eternal punishment. Know that while wickedness may not see rightful punishment in this life and it sadly may even find reward in this world, the blessing and reward they experience in this life is the closest to Heaven they’ll ever see. Be willing to pray for those caught in that vile cycle of unpunished wickedness to have their eyes opened to the eternal aspect of life and that there needs to be a change in their life if they ever want to see Heaven someday. I love you, but Jesus loves you more – Mac – Daily DEVO 3393

Question To Ponder: Why might God allow someone’s wicked deed to go seemingly unpunished for a time?
