Numbers 28 – Pastor Mac Daily DEVO

Besides the regular burnt offering and its grain offering, you shall offer them and their drink offering. See that they are without blemish. Numbers 28:31 – While the structure of these offerings were given to the people at Mt. Sinai, the Lord is now giving His people a detailed description of what He was wanting from His people with these offerings. As you go through the list within this chapter and the next we see this wasn’t a small amount being given. There were offerings twice daily, offerings each week and each month, and offerings at special times of the year. What we also see is that just because those dates may overlap, that didn’t cancel out the other sacrifices. Meaning that if one of these special days landed on the start of a month and that day was also a Sabbath, the people would have to give everything for all those offerings. The daily, the weekly, the monthly, and the special day offerings, which would total up to be quite a large amount. While that wouldn’t happen often, it was possible and the people were expected still to give that total amount. In our walk there will be seasons where the Lord isn’t asking much from us, but there will also be seasons where the Lord is asking everything from us. Often we are willing to be faithful and joyful when the Lord is asking the small amount, but how faithful and how joyful are we when the Lord is asking the grand amount? He may ask for you give up something you treasure or He may call you to something you have told Him you’d never do. He may call you to an extended season of hardship like that of Job. In that will the Lord still have your offering? Does the Lord receive from us what He asks only when the ask is small or does He still receive it when the ask is great? Let’s be willing to follow the example of Jesus who was willing to give us His everything to be in line with the Father’s will. I love you, but Jesus loves you more – Mac – Daily DEVO 3378

Question To Ponder: What is something simple God calls us to give daily to Him?
