Numbers 6  – Pastor Mac Daily DEVO

Speak to Aaron and his sons, saying, Thus you shall bless the people of Israel: you shall say to them…Numbers 6:23 – These days the blessing within the following verses has grown in popularity due to it being in our worship songs. Yet as we read through the chapter we see it begins with the detailed outline of how one was perform a Nazirite vow. This was a very strict vow that was setting one apart for the Lord in the most holy way. People like Samson, John the Baptist, and Paul are notable characters in scripture who took such a vow. We read through this entire process of one who would set themselves apart for the Lord, then we see this blessing Aaron and the priests were to give out. Immediately one may think that this blessing then was only for those who took the Nazirite vow, only for those who were spiritually elite in all their actions. Yet notice who this blessing was for? The people of Israel. Not just the Nazirite, but the whole of the nation. Takeaway this truth that the Lord is certainly blessed by our grand commitments made to Him with the proper heart, but His blessings aren’t just for those who make such commitments. His blessing is for all His people.  His love, His salvation, His joy, and all His blessings are for all His people. Whether you’re a pastor, international missionary, or simply a child who follows Jesus, all of God’s blessings are for you. God’s heart isn’t one to hold back from us because we are doing what other people are doing. If we are being faithful in the ways He has called us to be faithful, even if that’s not as glamourous to the world as some ways others are being faithful, know God is blessed and He blesses that faithfulness. I love you, but Jesus loves you more – Mac – Daily DEVO 3356
