Now after a long time the master of those servants came and settled accounts with them. Matthew 25:19 – What these servants thought may never come actually came. The master of the house returned and wanted to know how they handled what he entrusted to them when he left. Jesus’ purpose behind such a parable was to open the eyes of all those listening that God has expectations for us on how we handle what He has entrusted to us. He has blessed us with life, breath, time, His word, and so much more. Yet we can find ourselves believing that because Jesus has taken so long in returning that He may never return, and if He never returns then we’ll never have to give an account of how we handled what He gave us. Hear the truth of this teaching of Jesus, He may be a long time in coming, but He is still coming and when He does He is going to hold you accountable for how you handled what He blessed you with. Did you use the life He gave you for Him? Did you treat well the relationships He blessed you with? Did you grow in the knowledge of the written word that He gave you? This wonderful life that God blesses us with He expects us to use for Him and have something to show when He returns. Don’t be caught like the foolish ladies in the earlier parable that fell asleep and weren’t prepared for the bridegroom’s return. Don’t be like the foolish servant who did nothing with the master’s money. Be wise by being prepared for Jesus’ return. Use each day He gives you for Him and use each breath He gives you for Him. God isn’t about the amount we offer Him, but He is about seeing His servants faithfully giving their best to whatever He entrusted to them. See what God has entrusted to you and use it well for Him today. I love you, but Jesus loves you more – Mac – Daily DEVO 3347
