He touched her hand, and the fever left her, and she rose and began to serve him. Matthew 8:15 – After finishing with the Sermon on the Mount, Jesus finds Himself in a string of healings. He heals a leper of his leprosy, He heals a soldier’s servant from afar, and begins healing all who were oppressed by demons and sick. In the middle of all this we see that Jesus also took time to touch the life of Peter’s mother-in-law. Apparently she was sick with a fever for an untold amount of time. Jesus, the miracle worker who was casting out demons and cleansing lepers, took the time to show love to a simple woman with a fever. While still a miracle, I feel why such a story was highlighted in scripture was due to the response from Peter’s mother-in-law. Immediately after being healed, she began to serve Jesus. Likely she and her family had been praying for her healing, and now it was given, and the response was the proper one. God gave her health, and she used that health for Him. How then have you responded to your prayers being answers in the past? Have you prayed for God to provide for you a job? What then have you done with the job He gave you? Did you pray for a spouse or a child? How have you handled that blessing God gave you? Did you pray for safety on a trip? How then did you live for Him after He safely got you to where you were going? It’s certainly good for us to pray for God to move in powerful ways within our life, but also be ready to give back to him after He answer your prayers. The lady in our passage didn’t waste the blessing she was given but immediately went into the service of Jesus. Don’t waste the blessing of answered prayers God gives you, instead use the blessing you been given to serve Him more. I love you, but Jesus loves you more – Mac – Daily DEVO 3330
