In that day, declares the Lord, I will assemble the lame and gather those who have been driven away and those whom I have afflicted; and the lame I will make the remnant, and those who were cast off, a strong nation; and the Lord will reign over them in Mount Zion from this time forth and forevermore. Micah 4:6-7 – As many of the prophets do, Micah has now switched the focus of his message to not the present struggle of Israel but the distant future for Israel in the last days. Micah is speaking about the Millennial period when Jesus will be King over all the earth, and we see the beautiful peace that is attached to Jesus’ reign. People from all nations will come to seek Jesus out to learn His ways. They will be no more war so there will be no need for weapons when Jesus is on the throne. Even those who were driven away or were lame or were afflicted somehow, their story under Jesus’ rule will not be outcast anymore but “a strong nation.” While we only get around a half dozen verses in this chapter speaking of what the future is to look like under Jesus’ rule, it’s a beautiful view. No war, no outcast, and people flocking to the Lord…that a special image to behold. Know then as we serve the Lord today, even though we aren’t in this special image yet, this is what’s to come that we will get to enjoy some day. While I wish I could tell you when, and I wish I could tell you that we could just be in that glorious time now instead of the struggles we are in, take comfort knowing such wonder is ahead. Jesus on the throne, and His word ruling the world. Let’s live today with the Lord on the throne of our lives knowing He is seated on the throne of Heaven.
