Jeremiah 30 – Pastor Mac Daily DEVO

And you shall be my people, and I will be your God. Jeremiah 30:22 – To understand the fullness of this chapter, one must realize that the words of the Lord through the prophet weren’t just speaking about Judah’s current struggle. Yes, at the time this prophecy was given Judah was being besieged by Babylon and about to be destroyed. It wasn’t a good season for them for they were feeling to consequences of their flagrant sin. Yet in that space God was giving them the message of hope that He would return them to Himself and be their God. He would bring healing to them in 70 years by bringing them back to their homeland after the exile. He would bring healing to them by offering them the Messiah they had waited so long for and He would usher in a new covenant with the Father and His people. God was also telling them, and us, that in the later days, days that are still to come in the end of all days, God would bring healing and hope to His people and He would still be their God. How this should impact our faith life today is by reminding us that God’s short term and long term plan is us being with Him as His people and Him being our God. What God is doing today in our life is designed to draw us close to Him today, yet it’s also designed to draw us closer to Him tomorrow and even when all our tomorrows are spent. We serve a God who sees millennia ahead and is able to shape what is happening in our days to prepare us to be drawn close to Him in those future days. God’s heart is for you to be His people and for Him to be your God. Whether then it’s a miracle unfolding in your life or consequences for sin being dealt out, know the purpose is God drawing you near to Himself. I love you, but Jesus loves you more – Mac – Daily DEVO 3260

Question To Ponder: How does it feel knowing even in the days of Jeremiah God was thinking of you and how to bring you to Himself?
