But I will for their sake remember the covenant with their forefathers, whom I brought out of the land of Egypt in the sight of the nations, that I might be their God: I am the Lord. Leviticus 26:45 – Our chapter, while not the last one in the book, seems to wrap up God’s message to His people surrounding His laws. It’s a chapter of blessing and curse. Abundant blessing would come upon His people when they followed Him, the abundance of the blessing would be so great that the pagan world wouldn’t have been able to dismiss the greatest of God. Yet the curse for disobedience would also be so “abundant” that the pagan world would acknowledge only such devastation could come from God. What’s so beautiful is while this chapter spends more time outlining the havoc their choice of sin would bring them, see God’s posture if the people chose to repent. God said He would remember His promise and would bring them blessing again. Even after they rejected Him over and over and over, and turned hard against every way He sought to bring them back, even then God would look favorably on them if they repented. If this is how God handled His people prior to the ultimate sacrifice of Jesus, how much more abundant grace do you think we’ll receive now that Jesus has done His work? Our enemy loves to convince us that we’ve just gone too far for God to forgive, yet even a passage deep in Leviticus shows us the truth about our God. Our God gives more grace. No matter how far we’ve gone in the opposite direction, if we truly repent God truly forgives. His love is greater than our mistakes and Jesus’ sacrifice covers every sin. Own this truth within your life and let it be a truth you are declaring to the world around you. I love you, but Jesus loves you more – Mac – Daily DEVO 3228
Question To Ponder: Why would the enemy want you to think you’re too messed up to return to God?
