But I have said to you, ‘You shall inherit their land, and I will give it to you to possess, a land flowing with milk and honey.’ I am the Lord your God, who has separated you from the peoples. Leviticus 20:24 - God is reminding His people of His promise. There was a land that they would be able to inhabit and call home. It would be a land of blessing for them, one that would be overflowing with the goodness and provision of the Lord. Yet this same land that would offer an abundance of blessing for God’s people offered death for those who inhabited the land prior to the Israelites. What caused there to be such a difference? The people prior had chosen sin and evil for their way of life. Their sin resulted in their death, and the land that could offer life offered them the very opposite. For us realize the same sort of decision and outcome is in front of us. This life could offer you blessings and joy when we choose God’s path to follow. This life though also could offer death if we choose sin’s path instead. Life and death are on the table and we have the freedom to choose.
