Leviticus 5 – Pastor Mac Daily DEVO

But if he cannot afford two turtledoves or two pigeons, then he shall bring as his offering for the sin that he has committed a tenth of an ephah of fine flour for a sin offering. He shall put no oil on it and shall put no frankincense on it, for it is a sin offering. Leviticus 5:11 – While this is a common message we see within the law God gave to His people, I love that it is displayed like this. In our chapter we have outlined the procedure of how to give a sacrifice for a sin that you did unknowingly, but later on discovered what you did wrong. What is the message though that is so beautiful being conveyed through this chapter? It’s that God cares more about the heart of the giver than the gift of the giver. While at first God commands a sheep or goat to be given, He understands not everyone could have afforded that. The Lord then said if that’s too much for them to do, they can give two birds, and if that’s still too much, they can give some flour as their sacrifice. God wasn’t about making rightness with Him an impossible goal to reach for these people. God longed to be in union with His people. So if all one could do was offer a small amount of flour as their sign they were seeking this union with God too, God was pleased with that. It wasn’t about the gift, it was about the heart of the one giving the gift. Today know God isn’t about what you can give Him. He doesn’t need your money or talents. He just wants you faithfully following Him. That’s the offering the Lord is seeking from us today. Because of Jesus our sin is completely atoned for, so what God is after is a people who will be after Him. Let’s be that today. I love you, but Jesus loves you more – Mac – Daily DEVO 3207

Question To Ponder: What is an offering the Lord is pleased we give Him today?
