Hebrews 13 – Pastor Mac Daily DEVO

Therefore let us go to him outside the camp and bear the reproach he endured. Hebrews 13:13 – Spurgeon had a solid quote about this verse. “If you can dwell with the wicked, if you can live as they live, and be ‘hail-fellow well met’ with the ungodly, if their practices are your practices, if their pleasures are your pleasures, then their god is your god, and you are one of them. There is no being a Christian without being shut out of the world’s camp.” Our scripture comes after a verse where we are reminded how when Jesus was crucified He was taken outside the city, a place that was seen as somewhere to discard the filth that the world didn’t want around them anymore. As believers we must make a decision of where we are going to set up the camp of our lives. Are we going to camp inside the city with the lost world or are we going to camp with Jesus? Our quote says it well, that if we set up our tent to dwell with the wicked and live as they live and find pleasure in what they do…then their god is our god, and that’s not Jesus. With an examination of your life, would you say it looks more like an unbeliever’s life or a like a life Jesus would have lived if He did in 2025? Is it filled with things an unbeliever would fill their life with or filled with things Jesus would fill His life with? Do you find pleasure in things unbelievers find pleasure in or things that Jesus finds pleasure in? I know, this can be convicting, but know while I’m on the other side of the screen writing this, I’m feeling this same scriptural conviction with you. God is calling us to more than just existing in this world like the world does. Let’s make a change today to pitch our tent outside the city with Jesus. I love you, but Jesus loves you more – Mac – Daily DEVO 3197

Question To Ponder: What could be one change you could make today to live more like how Jesus would live?
