Now the point in what we are saying is this: we have such a high priest, one who is seated at the right hand of the throne of the Majesty in heaven…Hebrews 8:1 – When I planned out my order for what books we’d cover in our 2025 reading plan, I didn’t purposefully have us read Exodus before Hebrews, but I’m so grateful the Lord designed it this way for it has helped me so much to understand what’s being spoken about in our Hebrews study. We saw in the last section of Exodus the creation of all the parts of the Tabernacle. There was the altar and the table and the lampstand and the ark. All beautiful pieces to be used in the service of the priests in the Tabernacle. Yet until recently I hadn’t noticed there was the absence of any sort of chair for the priests to sit in. No chairs meant there was no resting for the priest because the work was never done for them. Due to the inability of the law and animal sacrifices to make one perfect, the priests were in a constant cycle of sacrifice and service before the Lord. Yet look at the position of Jesus in our passage…seated. His work is done. His sacrifice was perfect. Jesus doesn’t need to be constantly running around offering more sacrifices to make us holy, the work is completed for His sacrifice was enough. How wonderful is it to know our Savior is seated for His work is finished! I love you, but Jesus loves you more – Mac – Daily DEVO 3192
