Exodus 25 – Pastor Mac Daily DEVO

And you shall set the bread of the Presence on the table before me regularly. Exodus 25:30 – Where we left off Moses in the last chapter was him going up Mount Sinai by himself to hear from the Lord. He was up there forty days and nights, and in that space God laid out the law for His people. He began His talk to Moses by outlining the design plans for the Tabernacle and the pieces within it. This would be the place the people of Israel could offer sacrifice for sin and hear from the Lord. One piece that was outlined to be made was the table of the showbread. A table, overlaid with gold, was to be made, and on it we learn was to be the bread of the Presence. We’d learn later that there was to be twelve loaves of this bread continually on this table, and once a week the priests would replace the bread and be able to enjoy the old loaves. While a seemingly simple aspect to the Tabernacle, note that the creation of this table is the very next thing after the Ark of the Covenant was to be created. The Ark would be for atonement, and this table would have been a visual reminder to the priests and people that God desired communion with His people. In our culture, and especially theirs, a dinner table is about fellowship and fulfilling the need of hunger and communion. God wanted His people to be always reminded of His presence with them and His desire was to have fellowship with His people. While we may not have this table or the bread of Presence to remind us of God’s presence with us, what we do have is better. We have the Bread of Life. God has given us Himself, His Holy Spirit, to be with us continually to remind us of the presence of Jesus with us. Find joy in the truth that we have the presence of our God with us always. I love you, but Jesus loves you more – Mac – Daily DEVO 3169

Question To Ponder: What is a way we can be reminded of God’s presence with us?
