“…and that you may tell in the hearing of your son and of your grandson how I have dealt harshly with the Egyptians and what signs I have done among them, that you may know that I am the Lord.” Exodus 10:2 - We are coming to a close soon on the long list of horrible plagues the Lord sent on the land and people of Egypt. Now of course on the surface level, we know these plagues came to push Pharaoh to his breaking point to where he’d finally send the people of Israel out of their slavery. Here though in our verse we see another special reason why the Lord did what He did. It was so the Israelites had a story to tell. The Lord was going to demonstrate His greatness and sovereignty over all the false gods of this world. He wanted His people to know He was God and nothing else could ever outdo Him. Once His people witnessed this for themselves, God’s desire was for them to tell of His greatness to their children, and their children’s children for generations to come. The story of His mighty power was going to save the Israelites this day and be a story to show God’s people He can save them in all days to come. God is going to be moving as well in our story. While such moves are for our help and blessing today, God also wants us to be sharers of His mighty works to others as well. Let others get the blessing of seeing the might and goodness of God like you have. As richly as the work of God has changed your life, know you’re sharing with others of what God has done for you can impact their life in grand ways too.
