Exodus 5 – Pastor Mac Daily DEVO

Then Moses turned to the Lord and said, “O Lord, why have you done evil to this people? Why did you ever send me? 23 For since I came to Pharaoh to speak in your name, he has done evil to this people, and you have not delivered your people at all.” Exodus 5:22-23 – Understandably Moses was at a difficult place. First, he didn’t even want to be picked for this role of “Rescuer of Israel.” Now, after submitting to the Lord with that, he approached Pharaoh, said the words the Lord wanted him to say, and the result? No freedom yet for God’s people, and instead the workload on the people was increased because of Moses’ actions. Truly the exact opposite of what Moses was going for! Moses took the step of faith and the result wasn’t overflowing of blessing, but instead it was more trouble and pain. For us today, even though we can feel the despair in Moses’ voice as we read these verses, we know how this ends. Freedom does come and we see all the reasons why the events unfolded the way they did in this story. We simply don’t get this luxury of seeing the full story ahead of time within the events of this life. We too may faithfully take that step, like Moses, yet see the opposite of what we expected to take place. In spaces like that, find yourself remembering the stories of scripture. The stories of when everything from a worldly perspective seemed off, but God came through in only ways He could and He made everything right. While certainly Moses was in despair at this point in the story, imagine how he felt seeing the waters of the Red Sea part before him. The same God that parted the waters for Moses is in your story today. Trust His lead, even when the path doesn’t go as you expected it to. I love you, but Jesus loves you more – Mac – Daily DEVO 3149

Question To Ponder: Why might God handle things like He did here with Moses?
