Exodus 3 – Pastor Mac Daily DEVO

Now Moses was keeping the flock of his father-in-law, Jethro, the priest of Midian, and he led his flock to the west side of the wilderness and came to Horeb, the mountain of God. Exodus‬ ‭3‬:‭1‬ ‭- Let’s take in the full picture of Moses’ situation. Moses grew up a prince of Egypt, surrounded by the wealth and privileges of royalty. Some historians even say he was likely to take the throne one day. Yet now, at 80 years old, instead of Egypt’s throne,  Moses is a lowly shepherd without even his own flock. Moses is taking care of his father-in-law’s flock in the middle of the dry wilderness. No glory and no privileged position. Moses went from being somebody to a nobody. Yet while Moses may have forgotten who he was, and likely many in Egypt did too, do we see in this chapter who knew well who Moses was? The Lord. He calls Moses by name, knows the family line of Moses, and affirms the worth of Moses by giving him this unique mission. Moses may have forgotten who he was, but the Lord never did. We too may find ourselves in the spot of Moses, where we allow life to dictate who we see ourselves as and determine our worth. While this life can do a lot of speaking about such things, our ears should only be opened to what the Lord says on such things. He knows who you are better than anything in this world, including you. He’s established your worth already to Him, that you’re worth dying for. How great is it to know that we serve a Lord that knows us, sees us, and loves us. I love you, but Jesus loves you more – Mac – Daily DEVO 3147

Question To Ponder: Why should we listen to what the Lord says about us?
