Song of Solomon 6 – Pastor Mac Daily DEVO

I am my beloved’s and my beloved is mine; he grazes among the lilies. Song of Solomon 6:3 – One thing is certain with this couple, they knew who they belonged to and who belonged to them. In my marriage with my wife, I love that the words said within this verse can be said of us. I belong to her, and she belongs to me. I am hers and she is mine. We belong to each other and that’s a beautiful thing. The couple in this passage did not see this “belonging to each other” as a negative or something to fight against, instead they saw it as they should, something to rejoice in and forever dwell in. While many in life get to enjoy this level of belonging within a marriage relationship, something that’s even more wonderful is that this level of belonging can be found within a relationship with Jesus. We can belong to Jesus and Jesus can be our very own. This is not meaning we own Jesus, like we are His master, for that’s not the image we’re seeing in our verse either. He is ours like a bride is to the groom and the groom to the bride. They have each other’s love, commitment, and whole selves. Nothing is held back from the other, they have full access to everything that is the other person. In our walk with Christ, Jesus ought to have nothing held back from us for we are His. He first demonstrated this sort of love for us by giving us His entire self on the cross. He held nothing back from us and He is offering us His whole self. What a blessed assurance, Jesus is mine! This is our story, this is our song. Let’s praise our Savior all the day long for this wonderful blessing. I love you, but Jesus loves you more – Mac – Daily DEVO 3142

Question To Ponder: If you are a follower of Jesus, how does it feel knowing you belong to Jesus?
