I opened to my beloved, but my beloved had turned and gone. My soul failed me when he spoke. I sought him, but found him not; I called him, but he gave no answer. Song of Solomon 5:6 - Dreaming once again, the maiden hears her beloved knocking at her locked door asking for her to come let him in. She though had already undressed and gotten ready for bed, so she didn’t feel like getting up. Finally, after he continued to call in her, she gets up and goes to the door to let him in. Yet, as we see in the verse, she finds that her beloved was gone. She was too late. My prayer for you today is that you won’t find yourself too late in opening the door to Jesus. Revelation 3:20 says, “Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and eat with him, and he with me.” The image unfolding in the passage between the maiden and the beloved is happening with us and Jesus. Jesus is at our door, knocking, waiting for us to allow Him into our life. We though can choose to be reluctant, refusing to open the door until a later time that works better for us. While you may believe now is not a “good time” to start a relationship with Jesus, He won’t always be at your door knocking. We never know when this life will be over, and the moment we pass from this life the opportunity to open the door for Jesus passes too. Don’t wait too long to allow Jesus into your life and miss Him altogether. He is worth opening your door for. I love you, but Jesus loves you more – Mac – Daily DEVO 3141
