Song of Solomon 4 – Pastor Mac Daily DEVO

Awake, O north wind, and come, O south wind! Blow upon my garden, let its spices flow. Let my beloved come to his garden, and eat its choicest fruits. Song of Solomon‬ ‭4‬:‭16‬ ‭- The previous chapter ended with the wedding procession of the couple, now we see the crowds are away and it’s the couples first night together. The beloved speaks beautiful compliments of the maiden, focus on seven parts of her body (seven being the number of perfection, highlighting her perfection in his eyes). Now, calling her virginity “her” garden, she is now calling it “his” garden, giving herself fully over to her beloved. While certainly a deeply romantic verse, for such is the book of Song of Solomon, this level of fully giving of themselves displayed in the passage is at the heart of our relationship with Jesus. He wants all of us. He wants us to no longer think of ourselves as our own anymore, but His in this life with Him. That we are giving to Jesus the most intimate parts of ourselves and He has us to the fullest. How would you say that matches where you are at within your walk with Christ? Does He fully have you? Does He only have your Sundays when they aren’t busy with other things? Does He have your mind and heart? It doesn’t take long to see in these chapters the depth of the commitment and love between the beloved and the maiden, so how long would it take for someone to see the commitment you have to Jesus? Don’t step away from this devotion feeling shame if your walk isn’t has healthy as it should be right now, that’s not my aim. The aim is to help you see Jesus, your Beloved, is here today waiting for you to be all in with Him. Let today be the day He has all of you. I love you, but Jesus loves you more – Mac – Daily DEVO 3140

Question To Ponder: How might be a way you could give more of yourself to Jesus today?
