2 Kings 7 – Pastor Mac Daily DEVO

And when these lepers came to the edge of the camp, they went into a tent and ate and drank, and they carried off silver and gold and clothing and went and hid them. Then they came back and entered another tent and carried off things from it and went and hid them. ‭‭2 Kings‬ ‭7‬:‭8‬ – I absolutely love this chapter for it so exemplifies the Gospel. We have an enemy surrounding the city and the people are dying of starvation. God though works a miracle and causes all the enemy army to flee, leaving all this food and belongings behind. Four lepers stumble upon the abandoned, but well stocked, camp and shares the good news with the starving city. Because they shared the good news, life was found for all those heading towards death. This is the Gospel, but isn’t what happens in verse 8 so important too? Yes after verse 8 they share the good news, but in verse 8 they enjoy the good news for themselves. They eat and drink to their fill and they take some plunder for themselves. They discovered the blessing and enjoyed the blessing. Such should be our story with the Gospel. We need to enjoy it. Yes, share it with the world, but also enjoy it within your life! How can we ever tell someone the beauty of something that we haven’t really embraced the depth of ourselves? Spend time with God because you can now anytime you want. Enjoy freedom from the sinfulness of the world because you’re no longer held captive to it. Think on all the blessings you have as a result of the Gospel and enjoy them deeply. Then you will not only have the good news to share but the stories to go with it. I love you, but Jesus loves you more – Mac – Daily DEVO 3073

Question To Ponder: What is a way you’ve enjoyed a blessing of the Gospel recently?
