He chose our heritage for us, the pride of Jacob whom he loves. Selah. Psalm 47:4 - As you read this psalm, your translation may say “inheritance” instead of heritage, but both are conveying the same idea. This amazing, praiseworthy God being spoken about within this psalm is choosing our inheritance that we’ll be receiving from Him. While that might not be exactly how we want this to work, for we may prefer to choose what we receive from the Lord, know God choosing our inheritance is far better than anything we could come up with. So what does scripture tells us is an a part of the inheritance we receive from the Lord? God has chosen to give us His love. God has chosen to adopt us into His family. God has chosen to make us holy. God has chosen to draw us near to His presence. This God who is worthy of the entire planet praising Him with one voice has chosen to love you and call you His own child. Let us then keep this mind-boggling truth in front of us when we are complaining about the hand we are dealt in life. Maybe we don’t have the same money others do, or the same family structure others do, or the same life others have. Maybe what they received from the Lord in those areas aren’t what we received. It’s easy to be dissatisfied and bitter about such an “inheritance” from the Lord in this life, but let us never forget the wonders we have been given through this great heritage we have as children of God. Even when life is exploding, we still have the richest of inheritances currently in our story because God has chosen to love us. I love you, but Jesus loves you more – Mac – Daily DEVO 3002
