Psalm 39 – Pastor Mac Daily DEVO

Hear my prayer, O Lord, and give ear to my cry; hold not your peace at my tears! For I am a sojourner with you, a guest, like all my fathers. Psalm 39:12 – We see in this start of this psalm David struggling to remain sinless in whatever his situation was. He knew if he broke his silence he’d say something he shouldn’t, so he chose to remain silent. But he broke that silence with the Lord, pleading for help from this broken world. In the verse above we see David speak some deep truths we to must latch onto when we are exhausted with this earthly life. First, that we are sojourners, travelers and foreigners, to this world if we are a part of the family of God. Our home is heaven, and one day we’ll be there, but for now we walk as travelers in someone else’s homeland. Second, that God is with us while we travel. Notice the language speaks to the truth that we travel as a guest “with” the Lord, not “from” God or “to” God. We no longer walk this life alone. As believers, we will find ourselves frustrated and struggling in this world of sin and we’ll long for relief from it. Know that God sees the frustration and struggle for He is walking with you as you walk through this life. Take joy knowing your home is Heaven and this life will be settled and gone someday. Until then, navigate the journey of life knowing you are never taking a step alone. God is with us and God is leading us home, He just has work for us to do on the road there to invite others along for the journey. I love you, but Jesus loves you more – Mac – Daily DEVO 2994

Question To Ponder: Do you feel right now more traveling “with” God or “from” God?
