I believe that I shall look upon the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living! Wait for the Lord; be strong, and let your heart take courage; wait for the Lord! Psalm 27:13-14 – As you read though this psalm, likely you noticed a change in its nature halfway through. It began with confidence and praise, declaring the wonders of being near the Lord. Then in verse seven we see the reality of the difficult season David must have been in come through for his words become words of request for help from the Lord. What we find though at the end is where David was choosing to camp his heart at during his time of trouble. He knew one day he would be beyond this troubled time. He believed with confidence that one day he would look upon the goodness of God in the land of the living. This could simply refer to a time beyond the current trial, or it could be David referring to Heaven. Either way David believed the day where he was past the trouble he was in would come because the of the Lord. He just needed to wait, to stay strong, and to take courage. Maybe such a verse needs to be a reminder for you today in the current difficulty you’re in. Someday you too will look upon the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living. You will be beyond this one day. While the hope is always that this “day” we’re talking about comes sometime in this life, we can confidently know that we’ll see this day in Heaven. So, I’ll say to you the word no one likes to hear when they are in a season of difficulty…wait. Be strong, let your heart take courage knowing the Lord is with you, but wait for the Lord. The day of seeing Him in all His goodness beyond all this is coming. For now, know the Lord is with you and His goodness is with you no matter what season of life you find yourself in. I love you, but Jesus loves you more – Mac – Daily DEVO 2982
