The fool says in his heart, “There is no God.” They are corrupt, they do abominable deeds; there is none who does good. – Psalm 14:1 – Within this psalm we see David highlighting the depravity of many in his day. There were so many around him that boldly proclaimed there was no God. They had completely turned aside from anything holy, they committed abominably corrupt deeds, and they refused to seek after the Lord. From their core they made it clear they rejected the Lord. Now we too can find such people in our day. Maybe it’s a celebrity, or maybe it’s a family member, but through their actions and words they have made it clear they believe there is no God. We though would never say such a phrase as, “There is no God,”…right? True, with our mouth such words may never come from us, but look at where the psalmist said the fool speaks such words from? His heart. While our words may never reject the Lord, when we live in sin and in opposition to His word, we too are saying in our heart, “There is no God.” Our embracing of sinful things is our rejection of holy things. Let our whole self, from mind, mouth, and heart, all voice the truth that there is a God. Live in such a way that says you believe in the Lord. Reject sin like you believe Jesus died to forgive it. Follow God’s word like you believe it’s His words to you. For we can say, “Lord, Lord” but come to the end of our life and still have never given our life to Jesus. Let the actions you take and the words you say all boldly proclaim to this lost world that there is a God, and His name is Jesus. I love you, but Jesus loves you more – Mac – Daily DEVO 2969
