Psalm 11 – Pastor Mac Daily DEVO

In the Lord I take refuge; how can you say to my soul, “Flee like a bird to your mountain, for behold, the wicked bend the bow; they have fitted their arrow to the string to shoot in the dark at the upright in heart…Psalm‬ ‭11‬:‭1‬-‭2‬ ‭- David here was getting some advice. People, who likely had good intentions of helping David, were telling David to get out of town fast. An enemy, likely King Saul, had his weapons loaded and aimed right at David. If David ever wanted to survive this he needed to run as fast as he could away from this horrible situation. While these people were trying to be helpful, we see David respond properly, “In the Lord I take refuge.” Yes David had an enemy and yes this enemy had David in his sights, but David also had God, so why would David fear? As we see later in the psalm, David reminds his “helpful” friends that the Lord is on His throne and He is able to rain down hot coals of punishment on these wicked enemies of his. David had nothing to fear for the Lord was with him, and nor do you need to fear if you have the Lord in your life. The advice you may be receiving is telling you to run, hide, and escape the attacks from the enemy. Yet if you have the Lord in your life, why listen to such advice for you have Jesus with you protecting you. Never fear the enemy when you have the Lord with you. He is a refuge, a strong tower, and a victorious warrior when it comes to His children. Praise the Lord we serve a God who is on the throne of Heaven and is able to save those who trust in Him. I love you, but Jesus loves you more – Mac – Daily DEVO 2966

Question To Ponder: What might a friend say to you that sounds helpful, but it actually goes against what God says to do?
