O Lord, our Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth! Psalm 8:9 – When we read this psalm, one way to walk away from this psalm is seeing the glory of man on this earth for it speaks highly of mankind. David looks into the heavens and sees the billions of stars above him in the vast universe and is reminded that even through the greatness of all that God still is mindful of man and cares for us. Mankind has been made a little lower than the angels, man is crowned with glory and honor, and mankind has been given dominion over all creation. Again, one way to walk away from this psalm is seeing the glory of man, but that is not the heartbeat of this psalm. We are to see the greatness and glory of God through this psalm. God was able to take fragile mankind, made from the dust of the earth, and set him in glory. God is able to use even the words of infants to squash the forces of evil. God’s hands have made the universe above us and His name is set in glory over all the earth. For consider our personal situation. We, with our sin struggles and worries over tomorrow and doubts in life, God was able to take and make holy and will one day set us over the world to reign with Him in Heaven. That truth shouldn’t glorify us, but glorify the Lord who is able to do such wonderous things. What a mighty, majestic, wonderful God we serve! I love you, but Jesus loves you more – Mac – Daily DEVO 2963
