For the children of Israel shall dwell many days without king or prince, without sacrifice or pillar, without ephod or household gods. 5 Afterward the children of Israel shall return and seek the Lord their God, and David their king, and they shall come in fear to the Lord and to his goodness in the latter days. Hosea 3:4-5 – We see Hosea put in perspective for us the bigger picture of what God was doing behind the unique commands he was being given. Like Hosea’s adulterous wife, Israel had turned from their love of the Lord. The result for Israel would be no political support or stability, no spiritual life with God, and no direction from the Lord. Their choice to break their covenant with the Lord would find them in a dark place, but when Israel would return to the Lord, like Hosea’s wife would return to him, then Israel would find the goodness and life they were truly seeking. For us the picture we must see is that the path towards sin leads not to our good. It’s leads to instability in all areas of life and a blindness to the directions of the Lord. When though we walk on the path of seeking the Lord, we’ll find the life and goodness that the people of Israel found when they turned to the Lord. The lie of the world is that it offers you all you need, and the truth of the Lord is He offers you all you need. Both are offering the same and you must choose which path you will go to find such blessing. Allow these sort of passages to reveal the deception of the enemy’s words to you and reveal the truth of God’s word to you. Life, fulfillment, joy, rest, grace, and salvation can only be found on the path of following Jesus. I love you, but Jesus loves you more – Mac – Daily DEVO 2942
