“Many women have done excellently, but you surpass them all.” Proverbs 31:29 – In chapter 31 we have a mother speaking into the life of her son seeking to help him think with his head, and not his flesh, when it came to the women in his life. She told him to pursue the excellent, virtuous women for his wife, and this proverb outlines much of what her character would be. Trustworthy, willing to work hard, smart, and wise. Able to take on the challenges that come, a blessing to her family, kind, and holy. She ultimately would be one that feared the Lord. When he would make his pursuit to find such a lady, he would be so blessed to have her and he would say the verse above, “Honey, you are amazing, and you surpass everyone else!” For the ladies reading this, note that this is not a passage that seeks to diminish the value or important of women, but is seeking to do the opposite. It is telling men that a holy woman in their life would change their life for the better in ways they would never imagine reaching on their own. Having such a wife would bring them honor, blessing, and would fill their lives with good. So ladies, seek to be such a lady even if a spouse is not in your story right now. Bring such honor and blessing to the family of God and the family God has given you at this time. Men, make sure the sort of lady your eyes are seeking after are ladies such as this passage speaks of. When you find her, treasure her like the precious gemstone she is, for she will bring more value to you than all the wealth in the world.
