Proverbs 7 – Pastor Mac Daily DEVO

Let not your heart turn aside to her ways; do not stray into her paths, for many a victim has she laid low, and all her slain are a mighty throng. Proverbs 7:25-26 – Once again Solomon is teaching about the foolishness of turning to the wayward ways of adultery. After sharing a story of witnessing a young man being allured into sexual immorality by an adulterous woman, Solomon closes out his warning by telling his son to not turn his heart towards her way and to not even walk down her path. He tells him to open his eyes and see all the victims that she has taken out, even the mighty have fallen by her hands. If such things happened to them, such will happen to you. Let us too be wise enough to consider our paths before turning down them. For if a path is filled with corpses, why would we expect to find life down that path? If a path has only offered its followers sorrow, why would we expect to find joy by going down it? Sinful paths have a long history of promising excitement, riches, blessings, and a satisfaction of all desires, but we can look back on the many lives who fell prey to such promises and see if they really received such things. Did they? No, as the last verse in this chapter even says, “her house is the way to Hell.” All that has ever been found down the path towards sin is pain, destruction, and death. Be wise then about the paths you take. If it is turning you away from the Lord and obedience to Him, then know it is a path that has already been taken by many before you and their corpses fill the ditches along the road as proof. Follow the path that leads you to the Lord, and the sure promise of life is what you will find. I love you, but Jesus loves you more – Mac – Daily DEVO 2915

Question To Ponder: What has been a promise given to you that a sinful path could offer?
