Proverbs 4 – Pastor Mac Daily DEVO
But the path of the righteous is like the light of dawn, which shines brighter and brighter until full day. The way of the wicked is like deep darkness; they do not know over what they stumble. Proverbs 4:18-19 – We see a father in this chapter seeking to help his son see the two different paths that were available to him. One is a path of righteousness. It would include listening to his instructions on how to honor and serve the Lord and it would include being faithful to the word of the Lord in his life. This path is bright and warm, like the first light after a dark night, and it just gets brighter and better as you walk along it. The other path is the way of the wicked. Unlike the first path, it is shrouded in deep darkness. So much so that one can’t see where they are walking, and they stumble over things they cannot see along the path. The son is being asked to consider which path seems better to him. The one that is warm, illuminated, and leads to life. Or the one that is dark, filled with obstacles, and leads to death. How about for you? While with our words we may of course say the path of righteousness is the one we’d choose, yet if we were to turn and look behind us to examine what path we’ve been walking along, which path would we find? Thankfully, even if the way of the wicked has been the path we’ve gone, today can be the day we change paths. Today we can begin following God’s word and today we can begin to pursue God in our life. Maybe yesterday wasn’t that, nor the many days before, but today can be. See the benefit of the righteous path, and the deadliness of the way of the wicked, and choose the path that wisdom speaks is best…the path of following the Lord. I love you, but Jesus loves you more – Mac – Daily DEVO 2912
Question To Ponder: Why can the “way of the wicked” be so inciting?
